India appears to be the 2nd top tourist source market in Asia for Scandinavian nations, after China. This was brought out in a roadshow which finished in Delhi today, arranged by Scandinavian partners – Visit Copenhagen, Visit Denmark, Visit Flåm and Visit Norway. The roadshow would take place in Bengaluru tomorrow and would take place in Mumbai on 9th October.
Scandinavian Tourist Board’s Indian Representative Mohit Batra stated that there has been a very healthy development in the number of Indian travelers selecting these destinations and they are primarily from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai producing a huge chunk of business. Places like Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune and Ahmedabad have also been reflecting positive results.
Batra further added that there has been coherent growth from Indian market to Scandinavian nations. Copenhagen has seen more than 50000 room evenings from India each year. A whole lot of fixed departures to Norway are also getting good business. They have lately been gaining a whole lot through word-of-mouth publicity. At present, their only dispute is to step-up awareness regarding the destinations. In recent future, they are expecting to get direct air-link from Mumbai and New Delhi, through Emirates, Lufthansa, KLM, Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airways.
Visit Denmark campaign has been quite active in Indian market as it has helped travel agents as well as top tour operators to sell their destination with Familiarisation tours. They are expecting twenty percent more tourists this year.
